Alta View Eye Care Center was established in 1979 and is one of the oldest eye care centers in the South Salt Lake Valley. Alta View Eye Care Center has been serving Salt Lake Valley residents for over 30 years. As a comprehensive eye care center, the physicians are superbly trained in diagnosing and treating various eye diseases and conditions ranging from simple eyeglasses to complex cataract and refractive surgeries. To give the physicians a diagnostic edge, the Eye Care Center has invested heavily in multiple digital and laser technologies at the forefront of hi-tech ophthalmology.
• The Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camera is capable of taking high resolution, wide angle, and digital images of the inside of the eye without the need for dilation. Digital image documentation of various multiple eye conditions is essential to monitor for disease progression or improvement. This high tech instrument provides the physicians with cutting edge imaging technology to monitor and prevent disease progression.
• The patented GDx Scanning laser Polarimeter technology provides quantitative information about the retinal nerve fiber layer, the tissue first damaged by glaucoma and other optic nerve diseases. The infrared laser beam scans the retina surrounding the optic nerve and detects any areas of thinning that can correlate with retinal injury or disease. The GDx computer compares the patient’s nerve fiber layer with the nerve fiber layers of healthy eyes. This GDx technology enable the physicians to accurately screen, diagnose and manage glaucoma and other optic nerve diseases better than ever and without the inconvenience of dilation
• The Orbscan is an advanced corneal topography unit that maps out the front of the eye. The Orbscan takes the ability to map the surface of the eye to a new level, making it a vital diagnostic test that every patient should receive during evaluation for LASIK surgery. The Orbscan is considered a multidimensional diagnostic system, which means it can evaluate the structure, elevation, irregularities, thickness and curvature of the entire cornea, both front and back.
These high tech imaging systems enhances the diagnostic and treatment capability of the center’s physicians to better and more conveniently serve our community.
Surgeries are performed at the New Alta View Hospital Specialty Surgical Center located north of the hospital or at St. Marks Hospital.
